Q How did you get into the beauty industry?

I'd read about the Universal Contour Wrap and thought it sounded too good to be true. The company's Carole Jones wrapped me and before I knew it she'd offered me a job running the saion she was about to open in Farnham Common, Surrey. I took the job and haven't looked back!

Q Most satisfying moment of your career?

The first polycystic ovarian syndrome patient I successfully treated. I find it incredibly satisfying when customers buy from us simply because they trust me! When we have branched into new products, our customers don't hesitate - they know that if we say something is good it is. I just love it when a customer is hesitant, then three months later says it has been the best thing they ever did.

Q Best business/career advice you have ever been given?

Never be afraid to go to people to ask for help. This came from my manager at Avis many years ago. It has become my motto and what I pass on to my team.

Q What, is the secret of your success?

Knowing that every customer is an individual. They don't always want the same thing and you must understand what it is they are looking for and what they need, before responding accordingly.

Q What is your philosophy?

Always treat others in the way I would like people to treat me.

Q Three things you couldn't do your job without?

Telephone, dedicated team of staff, and a sense of humour.

Q Best bits/worst bits of your job?

I love the industry. 1 love looking at and trying new treatments, and when a salon tells me we have helped turn their business around. However, I always have 101 things to do and get constantly distracted.

Q Future business ambitions?

I want to open-up the Indian market to Universal Contour Wrap. As well as having a real fascination for Indian culture, I have always believed that there is a huge potential there for our treatment. We have an endorsement from Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, so now seems a perfect time to enter this market with the right distributor.

Q Imagine you are at the start of your career, what would you change?

I would probably be more disciplined in my approach, as I know I can be distracted easily And, after three husbands, maybe I should have learnt that its OK to finish at 530pm and go home.

Q Business plan for the next 12 months?

To further discussions with potential distributors in other countries, which will include India; to enter into partnership programmes in the UK; and successfully launch our new retail range.
